The Psychologist Behind the Career Health Movement.
Clinical Psychologist | Founder & CEO, Lumin & Career Health Institute | Author, The Great Unraveling
Dr. Angélica Pérez-Litwin
For more than two decades, Dr. Angélica Pérez-Litwin has worked with physicians, attorneys, executives, entrepreneurs, and other high-achieving professionals who appeared successful on the outside but were quietly struggling on the inside.
Through her clinical work, she identified a pattern that traditional conversations about stress, burnout, and work-life balance failed to fully explain: the profound impact careers can have on our mental health, physical health, relationships, identity, and overall quality of life.
This observation led her to develop the Career Distress Response™ Model and ultimately establish the field of Career Health — the idea that how we work is a determinant of health.
Dr. Pérez-Litwin is the Founder and CEO of Lumin, a modern therapy and career advisory practice. She is also the Founder of the Career Health Institute, where she advances research, education, and public awareness around the relationship between work, well-being, and human flourishing.
She is the author of The Great Unraveling: The Silent Crisis of High Achievers and the Path to Career Harmony, a book that challenges conventional thinking about burnout and introduces a new framework for understanding why so many successful people feel exhausted, disconnected, and unfulfilled despite their achievements.
Known for translating complex psychological concepts into practical insights, Dr. Pérez-Litwin's work sits at the intersection of career psychology, achievement, identity, and personal transformation. Her mission is to help people succeed at the highest levels without sacrificing their health, relationships, or sense of self.
Her work has been featured on the Today Show, NPR, CNN, Forbes, and PBS. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University, a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fordham University, and an MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Clemson University.
